# NZIF Alignment Module

The **GRESB Infrastructure NZIF Module** is a short, optional set of five additional indicators to be completed alongside the GRESB Infrastructure Asset Assessment.

It is designed to support a consistent view of how an infrastructure asset is positioned in relation to net zero, including whether it has appropriate targets, governance, plans and emissions performance in place, using the [IIGCC’s Net Zero Investment Framework (NZIF) 2.0 for infrastructure](https://www.iigcc.org/hubfs/NZIF%202.0%20Report%20PDF.pdf) as a reference.

Guidance within this section explains how to complete the NZIF Module alongside the GRESB Assessment, and how these responses are used to determine an infrastructure asset’s alignment with the IIGCC’s NZIF.

### **Indicators**

All indicators included in the NZIF Module (if the component is selected) must be completed in order to submit data and be received an NZIF Alignment Report.

{% hint style="info" %}
For most users, the NZIF Module can be completed quickly using existing information and internal understanding of the asset, without the need for extensive additional work.

Further guidance is provided within each indicator page for users seeking more detail on the intent of each question and how to respond.

For further questions, contact the GRESB Helpdesk at <info@gresb.com>.

**Validation**

Responses provided within the NZIF Module responses do not undergo manual validation as takes place in the GRESB Assessment, but they will be subject to quality checks and automatic validation checks in the portal.

**Reports and Data**

Participants that complete the NZIF Module will receive a dedicated [NZIF Alignment Report](broken://spaces/wJZJrdlf1c6UNxyiWPZY) alongside their Infrastructure Asset Benchmark Report. This report provides actionable insights into net-zero alignment, decarbonization progress, and transition planning at the asset level.

**Access Rights**

Investors and funds with access to an Asset’s’ Benchmark Report will also receive a portfolio-level NZIF output, in addition to having access to the asset-level NZIF alignment provided to individual reporting assets.

**How Long Does It Take to Complete?**

The NZIF Module is concise, consisting of five indicators. For users familiar with an asset’s net-zero program, completion should be very straightforward. Where a net-zero program is not yet in place, the module can still be completed efficiently, as there is likely to be limited information available to report.

**Why Is Guidance Limited in Some Areas?**

The guidance is intentionally broad in some areas, recognizing that there is no single prescribed approach for certain topics (such as decarbonization planning). In these cases, participants are expected to apply informed judgement based on their asset’s context and practices. Limited guidance in these areas is an indication that flexibility can be applied to meet the context of the business completing the module and undertaking the activity.
