# Development: Materials

The **Development: Materials** aspect evaluates how the entity considers 1) material selection in relation to environmental and health attributes and 2) life-cycle emissions, including embodied carbon measurement and disclosure. Choosing materials with lower environmental impact can reduce an asset’s overall life-cycle emissions, while attention to health attributes supports safer construction practices and enhances the long-term well-being of building occupants.
