Has the entity set long-term performance improvement targets?

[SCORING KEY] A 'scoring weight' is the fraction of the indicator's maximum score that a selection contributes (a multiplier, not a fixed point value). INPUT TYPES: groups are labelled (radio - select exactly one; options are mutually exclusive) or (checkbox - select all that apply); radio options are alternatives, checkbox options add together. CAPPING: total scoring is capped at the indicator's maximum (1/1). VALIDATION: where an indicator is subject to validation, validation is applied at the INDICATOR level - the whole indicator receives one status that multiplies its total score: Accepted x1 (full points), Partially Accepted x0.5 (half points), Not Accepted x0 (no points). When asked how many points a set of selections would earn on a validated indicator, FIRST state the points the selections are eligible for, THEN give all three outcomes (Accepted = full eligible points, Partially Accepted = half, Not Accepted = zero) rather than assuming any one outcome. Assessment Instructions

Intent: What is the purpose of this indicator?

Environmental performance targets help guide organizations toward measurable improvements and support the integration of sustainability into day-to-day operations. This indicator evaluates whether the entity has established credible targets, without assessing the ambition level of those targets.

Input: How do I complete this indicator?

Select yes or no. If yes, select all applicable sub-options.

If yes, complete the table for all applicable performance indicators for the entire portfolio’s targets.

Baseline year: Include a baseline year. Participants have the option to select a baseline year from 2000 onwards.

End year: This is the end date for the long-term reduction targets. It must be 2026 or later and at least three years later than the baseline year.

Externally communicated: Select yes or no for each performance indicator target.

Target type: Select from the dropdown menu whether the performance indicator target is based on absolute or like-for-like data, or intensity-based.

  • Examples:

    • Reduce electricity consumption by 15% across the same operational assets between 2021 and 2026. Only includes buildings that have not changed significantly in composition or boundary.

      • Area: Energy Consumption

Terminology

Absolute data

An absolute consumption, emission or production measure provided by an entity regarding its emissions and/or use of Energy / GHG Emissions / Water / Waste etc. for the reporting year.

Externally communicated

The targets that are shared with any third party and are not restricted solely to an internal audience within the reporting entity. Examples include public disclosures, communications to investors, etc.

Intensity data

Calculated based on the amount of Energy / GHG Emissions /Water / Waste etc. used or produced per unit of an appropriate denominator, usually the floor area covered (e.g., for energy this would be kWh/m2).

Like-for-like data

Calculated based on a metric that enables comparison of results between years whilst controlling for changes such as expansions and acquisitions of the portfolio that could over or understate the values of one year as compared to another.

Long-term performance improvement targets

A target that projects three or more years into the future, with the purpose of improving the portfolio’s performance through a reduction of any energy or water consumption, GHG emissions or waste to landfill, or an increase in sustainability data or building certifications coverage.
