#### Terminology

**Energy efficiency**

> Refers to the works resulting in products or systems using less energy to provide the same consumer benefit.

**Energy Rating**

> A scheme that measures the energy efficiency performance of buildings.

**Green building certificate**

> Recognition that a project has received a green building rating. A certificate indicates the name and location of the project, version of the rating system, date of certification, and level of recognition.

**On-site renewable energy**

> Any source of energy produced at the site that can be used without depleting reserves, including energy from the sun, wind, water and the earth’s core. Technologies should be available onsite, such as photovoltaic panels, wind turbines, transpired solar collectors, solar hot water heaters, small-scale hydroelectric power plants, ground pump heating systems, etc.

**Water efficiency**&#x20;

> Refers to the conservative use of water resources through water-saving technologies to reduce consumption.
